FISH RETURNS POLICY
We urge our customers to heed our advice about prospective purchases. Please do not to buy fish against our advice which then have to be returned. This is very stressful for the fish involved.
For animal welfare reasons we must not turn ourselves into a “fish library”. We must always act in a way to encourage responsible long-term pet ownership. We will therefore normally only accept the return of livestock on animal welfare grounds (e.g. the fish is being beaten up).
We may offer a partial refund for returned fish in the form of a credit note to be offset against future fish purchases. Making fish returns financially attractive is contrary to our aim of promoting responsible long-term pet ownership. This coupled with the costs involved in re-quarantining the returned fish means that we typically offer credit at a maximum rate of 50% of the price on your original receipt. Credit is available once the fish has successfully left quarantine, typically 14 days. You will be given a receipt at the time you hand the fish in; this will be exchanged for a credit note if appropriate.
All livestock returns are at our sole discretion and we reserve the right to refuse a return. If we are unable to look after the fish for some reason (e.g. it is too large to be comfortable in our small tanks, or our quarantine facility is full with an import) then regrettably we may have to postpone or refuse the return.
