Eheim Professional II
Not the cheapest of filters with RRP's extending up into the hundreds of pounds, although it's not unusual to find discounts of almost 50% online. But are they worth it? It's the quality of this filter that sets it aside from the competition, it feels robust and well made and inspires user confidence. The manufacturer obviously shares this confidence by offering a three year guarantee.
In
terms of ease of use it doesn't get much better than this:
Quick disconnect and water shut-off system
The hoses connect to a block on the top of the filter which features a quick disconnect and water shut-off system. When the block is released the water supply from the aquarium can be shut-off to prevent leakage. Which means that the filter can be taken away to a sink for cleaning. Once cleaned the block simply pushes back into the top of the filter reconnecting the water supply and re-priming the filter.
Should
it be required the filter can be primed using the easy prime button on
the lid. Personally I found this to be completely unnecessary after the
first use; because the pipe work retained water I did not have to re-prime the
filter after cleaning. Simply reconnecting the block re-filled the filter
with water and got me off to a fast start up.
Easy Open Lid
The lid of the filter is secured by four large clips which are very easy to open. The sealing ring remains secured within the lid and doesn't need fiddly re-fitting after filter cleaning. The filter media is located in separate baskets which provide easy access for cleaning.
The
test filter came with pipe work, spray bar, various suckers, clips and bends
which made installation a breeze.
