Ultimate Aquatics was established as a family business run by professional biologists dedicated to furthering the aquatic hobby.  We were founded in 1990 as an aquatic design and consultancy business specialising in large systems.  In 1995 our directors decided to offer dry goods by mail order to our commercial customers who were too far away to come in person.  The rest as they say is history, 1995 saw our mail order service open to the public, in 1997 we expanded into our first 2,000 square foot warehouse, in 1999 we added a second, and in 2001 we added a third !   Our retail shop opened in 1997 and continues to grow, offering livestock as well as dry goods.  Our fish room now boasts 500 tanks with fish from all corners of the world.  June 2003 saw us adding a fourth building dedicated to our behind the scenes quarantine and import facilities which have been struggling to keep up with demand. In December 2009 we joined the ACME group of companies.

We are proud to support the activities of OATA (The Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association).

• Environmental protection: We are totally committed to protecting and maintaining an environment worth living in.  We choose not to stock products which have questionable origins in particular we are vehemently opposed to the drug catching of marine fish.
• Excellent customer service:  We will always provide unbiased and scientifically correct advice at all times, even if this is at the expense of making a sale.  In the unlikely event of a problem with any aspect of our service we will act in a fast and efficient way to rectify the situation. In 2001 a PFK survey proved that we offered the best mail-order service in the UK. 2002 and 2003 saw us winning "UK's Best Aquatic Retailer" With the advent of a "Scottish Aquatic Retailer of the Year" class we have won it every year since.
