48 Hour Fish Guarantee

All fish at Ultimate Aquatics are carefully selected, acclimatized and conditioned prior to sale. Despite this, the stress of catching, bagging and transporting fish to a new environment may cause problems for the fish, either directly or indirectly.  If you experience any problems settling your fish into its new aquarium please contact us immediately for advice.

In the unlikely event of a loss of a new purchase from us, we will undertake to replace or credit the loss (conditions apply) providing that it is within 48 hours of purchase & we are notified within this period.

Terms and Conditions:

1. Guarantee limited to 48 hours from purchase date.

2. We must be notified within 48 hours of purchase.

3. You must provide proof of purchase, proof of loss (i.e. body of fish) and a separate⁺ water sample (1/2 a pint) from the aquarium within 48 hrs. ⁺A water sample with a dead fish floating in it is unlikely to produce acceptable test results!

4. Providing that, when tested, the sample is within the accepted conditions required by that species (see below*) we will replace or credit your loss. Any compensation is limited to the cost of the purchase, consequential losses are excluded. If the sample falls outside accepted limits advice will be given to prevent a recurrence but no compensation or credit will be given.

5. The guarantee period extends from the initial purchase date, not the date of replacement, unless a credit is given.

6. The guarantee excludes death of fish from unsuitable tank mates or electrical/equipment failure.

7. All rays and invertebrates are excluded from the above guarantee due to their sensitivity to chemicals such as copper and their inherent fragility.

*Acceptable Water Quality Criteria:

Ammonia (free): 0.01mg/l (0.01ppm) or lower Nitrite: 0.125mg/l (0.125ppm) or lower Nitrate: 40mg/l  (40ppm) or lower pH: not lower than 8.1 for marines, 6.5 to 7 for discus (& fish from the Discus systems), 6.5-7.5 for tetras, catfish, freshwater angel fish, and wild caught South American fish, 7-7.5 goldfish, gouramis, barbs, livebearers, rainbows, etc . Specific Gravity (for marines): between 1.020 and 1.025 (27-34ppt).

Other tests may be applicable in the events of repeated losses or losses of certain species. The required criteria are dependent upon the species involved; please ask if you are unsure.

IN ALL CASES REPLACEMENT, CREDIT OR COMPENSATION IS AT OUR DISCRETION

Your statutory rights are unaffected.
